About Gran Diamante Tequila Añejo

The Gran Diamante collection features three bottles: the silver Plata, the gold Reposado and the black Añejo. The latter is made from 100% blue agave, the finest estate-grown, highland agave tequilana weber variety. Matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, it is this ageing process that gives this tequila its distinct character and satin texture. The palate is smooth with muted spice, pepper and oak undertones. Extremely full bodied, the black Añejo has a refined bouquet, ranging from aromas of butterscotch, spice, and smoke all the way to wood and a hint of chocolate and cigar. A truly dazzling diamond.

About Gran Diamante Tequila

Gran Diamante Tequila, founded by Charley Bottles, is produced at an award-winning distillery in Los Altos de Jalisco, in the Jaliscan Highlands, one of the main tequila producing regions in Mexico. The famous red, mineral-rich volcanic soil in the area provides ideal conditions for growing blue agave.

At Gran Diamante Tequila, their mission is for "tequila to be enjoyed the way it was meant to be enjoyed". For the founders, tequila is like a diamond, needing to undergo many refinements before shining in its final, exquisite form. For this process, patience and knowledge are needed, beginning with the harvest. The agave tequilana weber blue variety, used in Gran Diamante tequila, is grown and harvested exclusively on the estate. Slow cooked for 14 hours in vertical autoclave ovens, fermented for 4 days in open vat fermentation tanks, which are placed in an open-air area, and double-distilled in copper pot stills, it is then put to rest in stainless-steel barrels or in French oak barrels for the Reposado or the aged Añejo.

About Tequila

Although tequila has developed a bad reputation, there's more to the spirit than just shots on a Saturday night.

This traditional Mexican drink origins in the state of Jalisco when according to a local legend, lightning struck an agave cactus before the Nahua tribe drank its warm nectar. Behold, tequila.

Legally, tequila has to be made of 51% of Blue agave around the Jalisco region in Mexico. There are different types of tequila according to age - from the youngest representatives, blanco, reposado, and añejo, to the oldest extra añejo.

Subtle spice greets you on the nose. Pepper and oak lead on the palate, expanding into a refined and complex back palate with notes of butterscotch, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The finish is complex, with slightly smoky, woody tones and a hint of chocolate and cigar.
