About Casa Maestri MFM Blanco Tequila

The most awarded tequila distillery in Mexico goes by the name of Casa Maestri or Destiladora Del Valle de Tequila. The family business, founded in 2008 by Michael and Celia Maestri, quickly became one of Mexico's largest exporters of tequila, crafting spirits using traditional methods from the finest agaves that grow in the highlands and lowlands of Jalisco. Casa Maestri MFM Blanco Tequila is distilled from 100% blue Weber agaves. After they are harvested, the agave hearts are roasted in stone ovens for 36 to 54 hours. Then, they are ground slowly, extracting the sweetest agave flavors. After fermentation, the agave juice is distilled twice, resulting in an exceptionally smooth tequila that lets the soft agave aromas and flavors shine. It's bottled without maturation at 80 proof.

About Tequila

Although tequila has developed a bad reputation, there's more to the spirit than just shots on a Saturday night.

This traditional Mexican drink origins in the state of Jalisco when according to a local legend, lightning struck an agave cactus before the Nahua tribe drank its warm nectar. Behold, tequila.

Legally, tequila has to be made of 51% of Blue agave around the Jalisco region in Mexico. There are different types of tequila according to age - from the youngest representatives, blanco, reposado, and añejo, to the oldest extra añejo.
