For the Willett family, distilling craft whiskey is a family tradition. John David Willett began distilling at the Moore, Willett & Frenke Distillery in Kentucky during Reconstruction. In 1898, Lambert Willett, who was 15 years old at the time, began appreciating with his father. Nearly four decades later, Lambert, together with his son, Thompson, purchased a farm on the outskirts of Bardstown, Kentucky and began construction of the Willett Distilling Company. Today, Evan Kulsveen, Thompson Willett's son-in-law and the owner of Willett Distilling Company, continues to shepherd the family legacy forward.

Willett Family Estate Small Batch Rye Whiskey is the second release of the new Willett Distilling Company's rye. Matured for three years in 53-gallon, American oak casks (charred heavily to a #4 barrel char) and bottled at cask strength, the whiskey is a combination of two distinct straight ryes - one with a high-rye mash bill and one with a lower-rye mash bill. The whiskey displays characteristics far beyond its age, including aromas of chocolate orange, pine cones, cinnamon spice and whipped cream. The palate is equally enthralling, including notes of vanilla bean, rhubarb pie, citrus zest and pineapple rinds. The rich finish leaves notes of spearmint, honey and cloves which linger.
