Since its inception in 2000, Compass Box Whisky Co. has been committed to making blended scotch whisky more relevant and approachable. "Like a winemaker blending grape varieties, we can create layers of complexity by blending whisky," says Glaser, who is one of the most progressive and innovative blenders of his generation.

Compass Box Whisky Co.'s The Peat Monster Tenth Anniversary Limited Release Blended Scotch Whisky was crafted to celebrate the tenth anniversary of The Peat Monster, Compass Box's best-selling whisky. "Let's celebrate ten years of sharing the joys of the craft blender's art, of inspiring others in the industry and of enjoying the balanced, peaty charms of this creation," says Glaser.

The whisky is crafted by blending together single malt whiskies made at distilleries throughout Scotland, including distilleries situated on the south shore of Islay, in the village of Port Askaig and Brora and along the rolling hills of the Highlands region of Scotland. Each of the whiskies was matured in first-fill and refill American oak casks, and a portion of the blend was finished in new French oak casks.

As a result of this blend and unique maturation process, the whisky maintains "the smoky, heavy-peated intensity of the classic bottling," says Glaser, but has "a bit more malty richness through the use of some very special, quite odd casks of peaty Highland single malt. Made from just a few humble ingredients — barley dried over peat smoke, water and yeast — you will find few other drinks in the world with such complexity. In this, the whiskymaker's union of earth and water."

The Peat Monster Tenth Anniversary Edition has an intense aroma of smoke, apples and salty tang. The aroma gives way to rounded notes of oak and woody spices, which are balanced by hints of citrus, cola, earthy minerals and caramel. The finish is spice-laden, with touches of vanilla and caramel throughout.
