Exclusive Malts North Highland 17 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch
Only 274 bottles of this whisky, which was aged for 17 years and bottled at cask strength, were ever produced.
During the 19th century, illegal distilleries were commonplace throughout Scotland. In response, Parliament passed the Whisky Excise Act of 1823, which permitted distilleries in Scotland to distill whisky in exchange for a license that cost £10 and subjected each liter of whisky produced to a special tax. Within decades, Scotch whisky became one of the countries greatest exports. The Exclusive Malts North Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled at an unnamed distillery in the northern Highlands region of Scotland (hint: the distillery is Glenmorangie). The whisky was distilled on September 3, 1996 and matured in a refill sherry hogshead cask (Cask No. 7025). Following a 17 year maturation period, the whisky was bottled at cask strength (112.2 proof) in January 2014. As a result of its extra-long maturation period, the whisky has an aroma of peaches, vanilla and salty brine that gives way to notes of citrus, toffee, butterscotch and stewed fruits on the palate. The finish is long and spicy, with a hint of woody tannins. We have only a handful of bottles of this incredible single malt available. Pick one up today!
