About Kinclaith 35 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Signatory Bottling)

In 1957, the Kinclaith Distillery — the last single malt Scotch whisky distillery in the city of Glasgow — was constructed at the direction of Long John International and Seager Evans. At the time, Long John and Segar Evans — both owned by Schenley Co. — intended to use the whisky distilled at Kinclaith in the production of Long John Blended Malt Whisky. In 1975, however, the distillery was sold to Whitbread and dismantled. As a result of its purpose (most of the whisky produced at the distillery was used in blends) and its brief existence (the distillery only operated for 18 years), the distillery never released an official bottling of Kinclaith Single Malt Whisky.

Kinclaith 35 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Signatory Bottling) is an extremely rare single malt whisky produced at Kinclaith Distillery and bottled by Signatory, one of the most prestigious and independent bottlers of its generation. Kinclaith 35 Year Old Whisky was distilled on May 28, 1969 and matured for over 13,000 days in a hogshead cask (Cask No. 301446). On April 5, 2005, the whisky was bottled at cask strength.

The whisky has a fruity aroma, with hints of papaya, pineapple and tropical fruits. The aroma gives way to notes of dried oranges, buttered toast, chocolate and liquorice on the palate, which are complemented by subtle touches of paprika and oil. The finish is lush and slightly sweet, with hints of charcoal, honeyed oak and caramel.

Only 219 bottles of this single malt were ever made. Pick one up today!

About Scotch

Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)

Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.
