About High West Son of Bourye Whiskey

Born inside a 250 gallon copper pot still, High West's Son of Bourye is a marriage of "bou", or bourbon, and "rye", or ... well, rye. Using a secret ratio of five-year old bourbon (75% corn, 20% rye and 5% barley malt) and five-year old rye (95% rye and 5% barley malt), Brendan Coyle, High West Distillery's master distiller, hasn't just created a new type of whiskey — he's created a new type of experience.

"We love to experiment with different types of bold whiskies," said High West's founder, David Perkins, noting that High West Son of Bourye earned a score of 92 points from Wine Enthusiast and was named one of the Top 50 Spirits of 2012. "The Son of Bourye is the result of tinkering with an idea and perfecting the ratios. The original Bourye has already become a legend, and the Son of Bourye is sure to attract even more lore."

About High West

Situated at the bottom of the Quitting Time Ski Run in Park City, High West Distillery & Saloon is the first distillery in Utah since Prohibition and the only ski-in gastro-distillery in the world. "We wanted to call High West a "saloon," says David Perkins, High West's founder, "because we wanted to pay homage to the history of saloons in the old West and the important role they played in each and every town that had one. The saloon was the main meeting place where town hall was held, important announcements were made, and people went to eat and drink. We want people to share that sense of community and friendship over High West."

About Rye

As American as the bald eagle, rye whiskey was first brewed in the American Northeast in the 1600s. Even George Washington distilled it after leaving the Oval Office, so there’s no way of denying its origin.
It’s distinguished from bourbon for its original and unique spicy notes.

By law, rye whiskey must be made from at least 51% rye grain, aged in new and charred oak barrels for at least two years, and bottled at no more than 62,5% ABV.

The rye is present on the nose, but is tempered by sweet and oaky notes. There is a long, sweet and spicy finish, making for a whiskey that can be enjoyed neat or on the rocks, and also mixes incredibly well.
