About Black Button Distillery Distillery Wheat Vodka

"We get all of the wheat we use to craft our vodka from a small family farm that is situated on the slopes of Conesus Lake," says Jason Barrett, Black Button Distillery Distillery Distillery's founder and master distiller. Once the soft white winter wheat have been harvested, it is shipped down to Barrett's distillery in Rochester, New York.

There, the wheat is mashed and fermented before being distilled through Barrett's 300-gallon artisan copper pot still. "Our extra-long lyne arm and unique helmet design contribute to the super smooth taste almost as much as the wheat does,"he says. Following distillation, Black Button Distillery Distillery Vodka is brought to proof and bottled by hand.

Black Button Distillery Distillery Vodka has hints of buttered bread, biscuits and ginger that give way to a smooth finish that is accented by a touch of peppercorn. Pick up a bottle today!

About Black Button

In 2012, Jason Barrett became the head distiller and founder of Black Button Distilling – at only 24 years old. Coming from a family of the finest men's suit buttons makers, worn by "Presidents, Popes, Kings, and Businessmen the world over", Barret worked in his grandfather’s factory when he was younger, but soon realized he wanted to carve out his own path.

After graduating, Barrett returned to his hometown of Rochester, New York, to follow his passion – make whiskey and open a craft distillery, the first in Rochester since Prohibition times. Named Black Button because of a family inside joke – Barret is color blind and the family always joked that they’d need to produce only black buttons if we were to take over the family business – every small batch of Black Button spirits is made from local NY grains with over 90% of ingredients grown or produced in New York State. Everything from corn, wheat, rye, and barley to dairy cream and apple cider comes from family farms in New York State to support local and sustainable agriculture. They even grow their own juniper for Black Button gin at the Black Button Farm in South Bristol. Besides whiskey and gin, Black Button’s wide range includes vodka, moonshine, and liqueur.

About Vodka

Historians are not clear on the exact origin of vodka since different sources link its beginning to both Russia and Poland. But one thing is clear: this somewhat simple spirit, first used as a medicinal concoction, has become one of the most versatile drinks in the world.

It can be distilled from any type of grains, potatoes, or even grapes worldwide. Due to its simplicity, this unaged spirit's main flavor factor is the quality of water and the ingredients used in the distillation process.

Primarily used in cocktails, vodka can also stand its ground when enjoyed neat.
