About Adirondack ADK Gin

Adirondack Gin is a traditional dry gin crafted using ten unique botanicals and essential oils, including juniper orange root, cinnamon and alpine bilberries. Bilberries, which are native to the Adirondacks, are a type of berry closely related to blackberries and blueberries. “They provide our gin with a unique and tart flavor profile,” says Bruce Elwell, the president of Adirondack Distilling Company.

After the botanicals have been harvested, they are infused using immersion-bags into Adirondack Distilling Company’s signature corn-based spirit. All of Adirondack Distilling Company’s corn (the base for each of its spirits) is sourced from within 100 miles of the distillery at the Sangerfield Grain Company. Once the corn is procured from Sangerfield, everything is fermented and distilled on-site without the use of neutral grain spirits. “We buy only the highest quality New York corn. It arrives at our facility dried, cracked, slightly milled, and ideal for distilling.”

Next, the distilling takes place in a 650-liter, custom-made copper pot still manufactured by the CARL company in Germany, which has been building stills for over 200 years. The team at Adirondack Distilling Company has affectionately named its still “Marcy”, after the highest point in the Adirondacks. Once the gin has been distilled, it is brought to proof with natural Adirondack spring water before being bottled by hand.

The gin has a bold, citrusy flavor profile, with touches of flour, ginger, tart berries and vanilla.

About Adirondack

Located in Utica, NY, Adirondack Distilling Company was founded in 2011 by an unlikely trio – a doctor, a lawyer, and a political consultant. Bound together by a passion for craft distilling, and even some bootleggers in their family trees, the trio purchased and refurbished an old bank in 2011, turning their vision into reality.

Known for their internationally award-winning ADK vodka, Adirondack Distilling Co. uses only locally-sourced ingredients in their spirits.

About Gin

According to Winston Churchill, "The gin and tonic has saved more Englishmen's lives and minds than all the doctors in the Empire," referring to the British officers using it to treat malaria in India.

Initially made for medicinal purposes, gin gets most of its flavor from the juniper berries added after the distillation process. It sure has come a long way from the Middle Ages, with the introduction of new botanicals, fruits, and spices, bringing it closer to people of all flavor varieties.
