Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey (Exclusive Cask #1)
Matured for over 8 years, this bourbon was bottled specifically for Caskers members to enjoy during the holiday season.
Nestled in the quiet Kentucky countryside near Lawrenceburg, Four Roses Distillery is a testament to American ingenuity and perseverance. Built in 1910 to resemble the architecture of California wineries, the distillery — now listed on the National Register of Historic Places — was one of six distilleries that was granted permission to operate during Prohibition.Following Prohibition, Four Roses Kentucky Straight Bourbon became the top-selling bourbon in the United States. In 1943, Seagram's bought the distillery and a decade later, discontinued the sale of Four Roses Kentucky Straight Bourbon. In 2002, the distillery changed hands again, and the new owner brought a renewed sense of purpose and vigor to Four Roses. In early 2014, we began working with Four Roses Distillery to bottle two special casks of Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon specifically for Black Friday. Our aim was to bottle two casks of bourbon that represented two entirely different flavor profiles, despite the fact that the bourbons came from the same distillery and were matured for roughly the same amount of time. In addition, our aim was to select two bourbons that would be great to enjoy during the holiday season. Cask #1 is made from a recipe of 60% corn, 35% rye and 5% malted barley and was matured for 8 years and 5 months at Four Roses’ single-story rickhouse. The bourbon has dark notes of caramel, Christmas cake, baking spices, citrus and creamy vanilla. Each of these bourbons represent some of the finest casks of whiskey matured on the Four Roses estate.
